Sunday School For All Ages Sundays are a day of Worship and Bible study at Immanuel. In addition to our
regular Sunday For the youngest children of the church, those 3 years old and under, we offer a "Wee Ones" Sunday School class that meets in the church nursery in the church "lower level" (south end of the church lower level). Even though our "Wee Ones" are pretty young and small their play time is more than just play. It includes loving Christian supervision, stories, and encouragement. For the four and five year olds and Kindergarten the Sunday School class begins in the Kindergarten room in our school building (the first room to the left as you walk through the front door of the school). They have an "opening worship" opportunity, plus activities, Bible stories, and loving supervision. The Sunday School hour for grades 1-8 begins in the church itself with an opening worship service at 9:10 a.m. The pastor, vicar, and Family Life Coordinator take turns leading the opening and once a month one of the Sunday School teachers or classes leads the opening. Mrs. Dietmeier provides music, an offering is taken, and the students are dismissed for their classes about 9:20 a.m. Parents should bring these children directly to the church or the students who attend the 8:00 service can then stay for Sunday School. We offer Sunday School classes for all eight grades with a few of the classes combined. We use both the old and new wings for the classes and generally have the students meet in the same classroom that the day school classes meet in. However, we do not use the 7th grade classroom and science lab for Sunday School classes. At the end of the Sunday School "hour" the children are invited to the "Kid’s Kookie Korner" in the hall near the gymnasium. This treat ends our hour of spiritual study. Three or four classes for youth and adults are also offering during our Sunday School time. The youth class for grades 9-12 meets in the youth room with volunteer teachers and our Family Life Coordinator taking a month at a time. An adult membership class regularly meets in the pastor’s office and is taught by Alice Schwichtenberg with the Pastor and Vicar providing make-up classes and answers to questions beyond the scope of the membership booklet. The Elder of the Day usually attends the class and Board of Friendship members regularly attend the class to get to know the new people considering membership in the church. A "Fellowship Hall" class meets in the main room of the Fellowship Hall with the pastor and vicar sharing teaching duties. It is often a lecture-type class with broad discussion. A "Deep Discussion Class" meets in the library (south end of the Fellowship Hall) with volunteer teachers handling this smaller, more intimate Bible and topic study. For the three adult classes, the "hour" begins with Coffee and Rolls in the main fellowship hall. Various announcements are also shared and brief meetings are held and then the classes "split" into their various groups. An offering is taken in the adult classes with 1/3 of the offering going toward missions (currently missions in New Guinea and GCM for Brandon Hoops campus support) and the other 2/3 going toward Bible class booklets and other expenses.
