Dec 2008:

PreSchool 3 - The three year olds went all over the building looking for the gingerbread cookies that ran away from them.  The children asked many of the teachers if they had seen the gingerbread cookies anywhere, and finally Mr. Welton told us that they might be in the nursery in the church taking a nap.  That was where the children found them.  The cookies were a yummy snack and the children were very careful to eat their legs first so they could not run away again!  The children have been busy making gifts, singing songs for the Christmas program and learning about angels and shepherds.

PreSchool 4 –The preschoolers performed their Christmas musical on December 10th.  They had practiced since the end of October and did a great job!  The preschoolers have also been learning the importance of Christmas and that we celebrate Christmas for reasons other than Santa!  The preschoolers will finish up the year by have a birthday celebration for Jesus on Friday, December 19.

Nov 2008:

Preschool 3 -.The 3 year old class has been busy learning about our own homes and the homes of some animals.  The children enjoyed hearing the story of "The Three Little Pigs" in many different versions.  In the classroom, the children used straw, sticks, and blocks to make up their own little play about the story.  The children are now learning about the new homes and new freedoms the Pilgrims came to America for.  In addition to respect for each other, the children are also learning about accepting each others differences and learning that differences are good.  Each morning, the children pass around a "thankerchief" and each of us share what we are thankful for.  The 3 year olds are thankful for very simple things!

Preschool 4 -The 4 year olds have been so busy!  The children were visited by Commander Rice, who is a parent of one the children.  She talked to them about what it would feel like to be in space.  The children also played with scientific gadgets and discussed how the toys would react in an environment without gravity.  Maybe some of these children will grow up to scientists.  On October, 31, 2008 the children went outside to help carve and clean out a pumpkin.  Later in the morning the children played in the pumpkin seeds, played with cooked noodles, played in the corn box, and examined chicken bones.  One child even made a person out of the chicken bones!  Oh, the imagination of these children stretches for miles upon miles!

Oct 2008:

Preschool 3 –. The three year olds have begun investigating their senses.  The children are learning to discover about things by feeling them, smelling them and listening to them.  The boys and girls have played many games with their eyes covered while they try to determine who rang a bell, or what items are the same.  It is wonderful that God gave us so many ways to experience his world!  Our Bible story has been about Moses.  All the children agree that being in a basket in the water would be a scary feeling, but knowing that God is always with us is helpful.  The children are learning how trees change in fall and what squirrels do to prepare for the winter.  It was especially fun to watch the geese strutting around the soccer field when they took a break from their flying.

Preschool 4 – The preschoolers just finished a unit on Noah’s Ark.  They explored with water, animals and blocks, rainbows, and colors.  They have also been busy watching the leaves fall from the trees and turn colors as fall is now in full swing.  The preschoolers have made leaf rubbings with crayons, water colored leaves, and listened to many stories about leaves.  The children were also involved in a one day study about spiders.  Some of the preschoolers were able to break crayons into little pieces and watch them melt into crayon cookies.  All in all, the preschoolers are always busy exploring the world God has provided for us!

Sept 2008:

Preschool 3 – The three year olds have done a fabulous job of learning what school is about.  The children are learning that there are times to play and have fun and other times when listening is what must be done!  The two parts of the day the children enjoy the most are snack time, and feeding the fish.  The children have learned that God created everything and they enjoy singing about the animals, plants and special people God made.  The children are learning that all kinds of different shapes make up God’s world.

Preschool 4 -  The four year olds have been so busy learning about the world God made for us.  They have spent a lot of time outside exploring bugs and trees.  They children have been learning about how God has made each of us different by drawing self portraits and graphing their eye color.  Some of the children were able to visit the fire station and they were able to see the beds the firemen sleep in, the kitchen they cook in, the bathroom, the firemen’s lockers, and of course a fire truck.
